Truck Drivers finding that gas training expanding in PA region

Gas training expanding in region - News - The Times-Tribune

I have seen quite the increase of Pennsylvania residents calling me about repairing their drivers license so they can get a job driving for the gas industry boon happening in North East PA. It seems I get a couple of calls a week from men and women who had some problem in their past and now that the trucking jobs are hiring they don't have access to those jobs anymore. From the Times-Tribune; Luzerne County Community College's dean Karen Flannery explained that they offer training for truck drivers, who are very much in demand by the natural gas industry through their Public Safety Training Institute.

Although you are not required to have a perfectly clean driving record to get a job as a truck driver, most truck driving jobs are only given to the most qualified, and that means the better your driving record looks, the greater you chances of getting that driving job. Besides having a clean driving record, you need special training and a class "A" license for most larger vehicles the gas companies operate.

If you are looking for ways to clean up your driving record, there are a number of resources to help.

PennDOT
License Restoration
All State CDL Training
Luzerne County Community College
Lackawanna College

This list has some great places to start getting ready to take on a driver training program if you are interested in working with the GAS companies offering jobs in Pennsylvania right now. As the article from the Times-Tribune states "the out-of-state workers will eventually want to go home, so local people will have to be trained to fill those slots" according to Larry Milliken, director of energy programs at Lackawanna College's Towanda center.
